It’s not secret that garlic is one of ages oldest and most reliable natural remedies. It is anti-microbial and anti-viral, making it natures greatest “antibiotic”. It is able to kill viruses, bad bacteria and infection without destroying your bodys healthy flora.

In the mid 1300’s when England was hit with the Plague, those who skimmed by without contracting the disease or who were able to come back from it’s deathly grip were those scavenging for and eating raw garlic (and vinegar) in large amounts. It is since that time that herbalists have used garlic as a regular remedy for any “plagues” that can beget us.

Garlic is a safe and effective remedy for all ages. It can improve symptoms and quicken healing of a cold/flu, any bacterial or viral illness, cough, sinus or bronchial distress, infections, yeast overgrowth, parasites, digestive upsets, and even heart and blood pressure problems!

How to make garlic oil – 3 ways

What you’ll need:

  • 6-8 cloves of raw garlic (peeled/skinned)
  • 1/2 c olive oil
  • 1/4 c coconut oil *optional

First way:

Make a “paste” or “balm” by blending all the ingredients together in a high speed blender, then storing in a glass jar in the fridge to help solidify. Best if used within a few days.

Way #2:

Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender (sans coconut oil) and use a cheese cloth or tightly woven cloth to strain out any chunks. It’s fine if you don’t strain. Best if used within a few days.

The best way:

Crush garlic cloves and soak in olive oil for 3 days. Strain out garlic and store oil in a cool dark place, best if used within a few days.

How to use it:

Garlic oil can be rubbed on the bottom of the feet, with plastic wrap and socks or just wool socks placed over it. This will absorb into the blood stream. You can also rub over the chest and back for a cough/sinus/bronchial condition. Reapply 3-5x daily or more as needed.

Drop garlic oil (that has been prepared the third and best way) into your ear to help resolve an ear infection. It is best if the bottle is slightly warmed under the tap, dropped into the ear, and a cotton ball secured over it. Apply to both ears regardless of location of the ear infection. Reapply 3-5x daily as needed and overnight.

Garlic can also be crushed, mixed with petroleum jelly and pasted to the bottom of the feet thickly (1 inch) with plastic wrap and socks covering it to go to sleep. This will help with severe cases and the jelly helps so that higher amounts of raw garlic won’t burn sensitive skin.

Ingesting garlic is also a great way to get all the benefits. Just make sure you don’t cook it or boil it, as to not denature the medicinal constituents! It is best if consumed raw, or added to a warm soup or tea. Drink 3-5 glasses of broth or tea with crushed raw garlic at onset of an illness.

    1. I haven’t tried it! The only thing about Garlic is that because it is anti-microbial, over-use of it can affect the natural balance of bacteria in your body. I would say you can just use it normally in cooking as a preventative measure, but I wouldn’t use the garlic oil on your body or take excess amounts for long periods of time or unless you’re sick ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope that helps!
